Interested in writing romance** and/or mystery fiction** but don’t know where to start? Or, do you have a work-in-progress and need help with character and plot development? Join us as we delve into both genres and create three unique short stories.
In Weeks 1 - 3, we'll create believable characters and study the elements of romance fiction by reading excerpts from genre-specific work. We'll learn the elements of setting a realistic scene, then write a short romance story.
During Week 4 and 5, we'll study elements of mystery fiction by reading excerpts from genre-specific work. Then using the characters from the first assignment, we'll create a new scene and write a short mystery story.
In Week 6 you'll be challenged to combine elements from both romance and mystery fiction for the final writing assignment.
