Fundamentals of Writing
Interested in writing fiction but don’t know where to start? Or, do you have a work-in-progress and need help with character and plot development?
Join us as we create and develop real characters, believable scenes, and unique story ideas. Whether you write fiction or nonfiction, this writing class is for you.
Live classes will be held online and run for six weeks. All sessions begin at 6:00 PM (Pacific time) on Tuesdays – see start dates below. Video recordings will be made available after each class. Each session consists of lecture, group interaction, handouts, and writing assignments.
Fall Term: Begins October 1, 2019. Online live classes Tuesdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and November 5. Note: Registration for this class is through The Levan Institute for Lifelong Learning.

Classes are open to writers of all experience levels. Writing practice and assignments will help participants empathize with their characters, craft realistic dialogue, and create memorable scenes; then put everything together to write several short stories.
